Candy Land the Movie?
Thats right! The popular old school Hasbro board game 'Candy Land' will be made over at Universal Pictures. The Studio has brought on Etan Cohen to write the script. He also wrote 'Tropic Thunder', 'Idiocracy', and 'Madagascar 2'. Universal also enlisted Kevin Lima to direct the movie, he most recently directed Disney's 'Enchanted'. This movie is going to turn out all kinds of crazy, weird, trippy, and colorful. I have no idea what to expect, other than the fact it will be a family film. Variety reports:
Project is the first film to emerge from the deal U made last February with Hasbro, whose properties are the basis for the summer tentpole films "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
The tyke-friendly board game isn't as obvious an inspiration for a movie project as those other Hasbro brands, but the studio has tapped talent adept at comedy and family fare.
I suppose Chutes and Ladders will be up next to get a big screen adaptation. For some reason I can see that one as some kind of crazy slasher film with a bunch of kids trapped in some kind of weird maze type building with some physco trying to take them out.
