THOR and THE AVENGERS Gets Delayed by Marvel another Year
Marvel Studios announced back in May of last year that 'Iron Man 2' and 'Thor' would both be released in the summer of 2010. As for 'The First Avenger: Captain American' and full on awesomeness of the 'Avengers', the plan was to release those in 2011. Well, with the success of 'Iron Man' I guess Marvel got ahead of themselves perhaps that were to ambitious at the time because of the excitement and hype because Marvel announced today that the 'Thor' release date has been delayed until June 17, 2011, 'Captain America' has been pushed out to July 22, 2011, and 'The Avengers'? Well hell that wont come out until May 4, 2012! Thats such a long ass time to wait! well, at least they will get made! It's better than finding out they won't be making them at all. Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel says:
"This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel's movie debut dates, big screen character introductions and momentum. It maximizes the visibility of our single character-focused films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character The Avengers film in 2012,"
I am actually kind of happy they are doing this. This will give them the time they need to do it right, instead of rushing it and trying to push a crap product out the door. Sacrificing time for quality is a good thing. So even though we have to wait three years before we get to see 'The Avengers' it will be well worth the wait. Also on a up note Marvel has confirmed that Spider-Man 4 will be released by Sony on May 6, 2011.
So in the end as much as it sucks that we have to wait, at least we know there is a beter chance of getting better films about some of our favorite superheroes. My question is when will we get Dr. Strange? So Cheers to that. What do you think?
