It's about time the new Hayao Miyazaki animated film 'Ponyo on the Cliff' makes it's way to an American audience. I am a huge fan of Miyazaki's work who also made other Japanese animated films such as 'Princess Mononoke', 'Spirited Away' and 'Howl's Moving Castle'. The film will obviously be distributed by Disney and John Lasseter has been working with the films producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy to make sure this movie gets the marketing and release power it deserves calling it Miyazaki's "biggest hit ever Stateside". The movie already opened up in Japan July of last year and has made $153 million dollars. It will be released August 14th.

The movie will be dubbed in English so most of us who like to listen to Japanese and read the English subtitles will have to wait for the DVD. The movie is about a goldfish that wants to become a human and the Star that will be lending their voices to the characters include: Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cloris Leachman, Liam Nesson, Lily Tomlin, Betty White, Frankie Jonas (the youngest Jonas brother), and Noah Cyrus (younger sister of Miley).

I am really looking forward to watching this film. Obviously the kids will love it as well. If you missed the Japanese trailer you can watch it below. I am sure we will get an American trailer soon enough.
