Matthew Vaughn and Mark Millar Team up again for AMERICAN JESUS
It was revealed yesterday that Mark Millars epic Superman movie idea (Which you can read about here) is most likely not going to happen and he is going to hang up the idea for now, most likely because he got himself a new movie gig.
Matthew Vaughn and Mark Millar just got finished collaborating on the film 'Kick-Ass' which I am extreamly excited to see. It is based off of one of my current favorite comic books. It looks like they are going to team up once again for the comic bookfilm adaptation of 'American Jesus'. THR reports:
The story centers on the return of Christ in the modern world, leading to a final confrontation with the Antichrist in a bid to save humanity.
The book, made with artist Peter Gross, originally appeared as a three-issue miniseries in 2006 with the title "Chosen." When Millar, one of the top writers in the comics field, decided to continue the story as a trilogy of miniseries, the overarching title became "American Jesus." The second installment is subtitled "The Resurrection" and is due out in the fall.
"Jesus," with its hot-button Christ-in-sneakers angle, seems like a candidate to benefit similarly from less interference.
The hope to start production in summer. But, MIllar and Vaughn are currently working on another idea for an action film and we are not sure where that is heading. Millar is a popular comic book writer whose credits include 'Wolverine', 'Ultimate X-Men', 'Wanted', 'War Heroes', and 'Kick-Ass'. I have not read this comic but it sounds like and interesting premis for a film. What do you think?
