Peter Jackson's DISTRICT 9 Movie Details

by Joey Paur

I am not sure if you have heard of the film yet or not but it is a film being produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Neil Blomkamp. These are the two guys that were supposed to develop the Halo movie that never happened. But they did work together on a Sci-fi alien project called 'District 9'. There has been a lot of viral marketing for the film you may have seen images like this popping up on line or at conventions. It all began at Comic-Con last year.

The film is actually based on Neil Blomkamp's short film 'Alive In Joburg', which is a pretty cool concept that involves aliens who have landed in Johannesburg, South Africa, and they are living as refugees there. The short was shot like a documentary which follows the government police who are trying to keep the aliens contained in certain places in the city.

Sony Pictures showed some footage from the actual film today and here are the details we got from one of our readers.

The movie starts off like the short film as a documentary in terrible third world conditions. Much like the short film that was made. There are local people that are talking about how they don't like the these aliens, and there is a gigantic space craft hovering above the city. This is the ship that the aliens arrived in.

There is a scene where the MNU police come in a tell the aliens they have to leave their broken down home. This is the first glimpse of the aliens. The police then find some strange looking contraption. As one of the policemen is carrying it explodes and some kind of liquid get in his face. He is then taken to the hospital. The guy is going nuts at the hospital and the stuff that got on him started to turn him into an alien. As he is being strapped down to the hospital bed he starts bleeding black liquid and he starts to change.

There is some other stuff in the trailer like some little action sequences between the aliens and police, but it was the Police experience that took most of the footage time.  The movie looks like it going to be awesome!

Sounds pretty good to me! Based on the description above and the short film, I am sold. I loved the short that Blomkamp put together and if it's anything like that with a decent budget then you can be sure it going to be one hell of an interestingly fun Sci-fi movie! Check out the short film below if you haven't seen it yet. And if you have watch it again!
