Looks Like THOR will Start Shooting Early 2010

by Joey Paur

Just a quick update on what is going on with Marvel's 'Thor' movie. As you know the movie is being directed by Kenneth Branagh and we still have yet to find out who will play the role of Thor, and it may be awhile before we do. Thor will not be released until 2011. This will give Brannagh and Marvel the time they need to develop the best possible Thor movie for us fans. Branagh recently talked with the folks over at IGN and he gave a little update on when they will start shooting the movie. He states:

"Well, I'm working currently on Thor for Marvel and we're planning that one. We're having a great time at the moment. We're in intense pre-production. I shoot Thor in January of next year and because the time of release has been moved, it's allowed me to have a moment in the summer where I can shoot the Wallanders. And, strangely, there's a weird, pleasing connection between the Swedish Wallander and the Nordic Thor. And as I've played a lot of Danish Hamlets, I feel as though my Scandinavian trilogy is forming."

If you don't already know 'Wallander' is a series of TV Movies that Branagh has been starring in for the BBC. We have a good 8 months until Thor starts shooting. This movie better be planned out flawlessly by the time they start shooting. I have incredibly high hopes for Thor there is so much i want to see from it, I can't wait to see the world of Asgard come to life in a big budget live action movie with a ton of creative people behind it.
