We finally have an update for you all on the HBO mini-series being developed ‘Game of Thrones' based on George R.R. Martins epic fantasy book series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire'. This new HBO series is being written and developed by D.B Weiss and David Benioff who also worked on ‘Troy', ‘The Kite Runner', and unfortunately ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine'.

Production for the series starts shooting this fall in Ireland, and we also have some great casting news. Peter Dinklage from ‘Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' and ‘The Station Agent' has been brought in to play Tyrion Lannister, who is the dwarf brother of the Queen. Dinklage is a great actor and he will add a lot of quality and value to the show. On top of that Tom McCarthy (The Visitor, The Station Agent) will be directing the series pilot. THR Reports:

Based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling "Songs of Fire and Ice" novels, "Thrones" is described as an epic struggle for power set in a vast and violent fantasy kingdom. Dinklage will play Tyrion, the Queen's brother who is treated as an outsider because of his size.

Like all HBO series I am sure that this one is going to be given the budget and production quality it needs for the vision of the books to be fully realized. I am pretty excited to see how this all turns out.
