Brett Ratner is Not Directing CONAN! We Win!
I have some great news about Brett (The Rat) Ratner! It looks like that he will not direct the new 'Conan' reboot film that he was attached to! Fanboys and Fangirls everywhere can rejoice! It seems like The Rat has attached himself to way to many movies, I think it's up to 12 now. I wonder if any of them will go into production anytime soon. Maybe the studios are reading the blogs and hearing all the negative feedback that the rat is getting. Conan Producer Joe Gatta days:
"We’re currently in the process of hiring a director. For the past six months we were discussing the movie with Brett Ratner, and for more timing issues than anything else we had to part ways with Brett. We all wanted him to do it, believe me; just the timing didn’t work. But you never know what can happen."
Yes, blame it on the timing issues, fact of the matter is they didn't like any of the ideas the rat was throwing at them. Let's just tell it how it is. Good grief, I hope they don't try to get him back. This is the best possible thing for this new 'Conan' movie. Gatta continues:
"We have a potential start-date on Conan of August 24. And we’ll be shooting in Bulgaria. I would say though the emphasis is on Conan [rather than Red Sonja]. It’s our crown jewel here at the company and that will be the leader. Red Sonja probably won’t happen until next year, as far as making it goes. So we want to launch Conan and reinvent the franchise."
He goes on to say that they will have an open casting call for the role of Conan, after they get a director attached to the film. Who would you like to see direct the movie? It obviously wont be any of the big names.
