WHERE'S WALDO is Going to the Big Screen

by Joey Paur

Today I've been doing my best to cover the E3 Video Game convention for all of you geeks out there so I have missed a couple bits of movie news today. So I thought I should let you know what is kind of going on in the movie world. I don't know if you're going to like it unless you are a big fan of 'Where's Waldo' because Universal Pictures is coming to the rescue to make the movie all of you Waldo fans have been waiting for after all these years! Where's Waldo was big in the late 80's early 90's, but has since faded away into one of those fads that we don't really think about any more, until now.

Universal has picked up the movie rights and will develop a live action movie based on that tourist who was famous for hiding out in big crazy crowds. Off course you could always find him because he was wearing that red and white shirt all the time, with the glasses, and walking stick. THR reports:

The books began life in the U.K. in the late 1980s, where he is called Wally, before becoming a worldwide sensation. The books became more thematically complex, with Waldo traveling in time or landing in supernatural settings, and a nemesis was introduced, an anti-Waldo named Odlaw.

The movie was originally set up to be made over at Paramount Pictures with Nickelodeon and John Schultz was attached to direct the film. The story of that project  followed a 30 year old Waldo who ended up traveling through time after accidentally activating a malfunctioning travel machine.

Hmmmm. Yeah, I don't know about this. I have no idea what the new idea for the movie is, that's if they even bother to develop a new story. Seriously this is just as exciting to me as the Bazooka Joe movie that is also being made. What do you think about a 'Where's Waldo' movie? Are you in or out?
