RED DAWN Remake is Building it's New Cast

by Joey Paur

You may have heard that the 1980's film 'Red Dawn' is getting the remake treatment by MGM. If this is the first time you have heard about it I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, because we all know that there is really no reason at all for this movie to be remade. The first movie was ridiculous enough, but it can get away with it because it is from the 80's. I just have a feeling this remake is even going to be more ridiculous.

The studio hopes to start shooting in September and casting has commenced. We have a few names of the people who will be filling in the shoes of the original cast of Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, and Jennifer Grey.

Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek, Future THOR) will take on the lead character of Jed Eckert that was originally played by Patrick Swayze. He leads the fight against the Chinese and Russian soldiers that invade his hometown of Spokane, WA.

Josh Peck ( The Wackness) has been cast as Matt Eckert who was originally played by Charlie Sheen. He plays the hotheaded star quarterback in the movie who matures throughout the course of the film. Chinese soldiers will do that to you.

Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights) will play the part of Toni Mason, originally played by Jennifer Grey. It looks like she will play Jed's love interest in the film.

The 'Red Dawn' remake is being directed by Dan Bradley and this is his first directing gig. He is mostly a stunt man. So at least the stunts might be good.

Personally I could care less about who is cast in this film. So what are your thoughts on the new cast for Red Dawn?
