It's clear director Kevin Smith has quite a knack for finding talent. Or at the very least, finding them before they blow up, and then sticking them in every one of his movies... snoogins. And for Smith's upcoming film A Couple of Dicks, he again calls on a familiar face.
Jason Lee announced on Kevin Pollack's live show, that he will have a role in in Smith's new action-comedy A Couple of Dicks. Lee's first movie role was in my favorite of Smith's films, the 1995 cult classic Mallrats, which was the follow up to Smith's low budget sleeper hit Clerks. But Mallrats was critically bashed, and was considered a box-office disaster. But it was in 1997's Chasing Amy, where both Smith and Lee received both critical and box office success. Smith has continued to cast Jason Lee, the then former, and now current pro-skateboarding legend(inventor of the 360 flip) with major and minor roles in nearly all of his films.
Jason Lee stated that he'd be shooting for a couple of days, but the My Name is Earl star didn't reveal what role he would be playing in the movie. A Couple of Dicks stars Bruce Willis and 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan as two veteran LAPD detectives who attempt to track down a stolen, mint-condition, 1952 baseball card, get tangled with a sports memorabilia-obsessed gangster, and rescue a Mexican beauty named Gabriela, who might hold the key to millions in laundered drug money.
Last month we brought you a photo of Morgan 'Celling Out' on the set of A Couple of Dicks. The movie also stars Adam Brody, Kevin Pollak, Sean William Scott and Ana de la Reguera.
