THE SMURFS MOVIE will be 3-D and in your smurfing face!
So when you heard last year that they were making a Smurfs Movie, I'm sure you thought to yourself 'I do want to see those little blue guys! But not just in two dimensions, but a third as well.' That's what you were thinking right? I know I was... n't.
The Smurfs Movie will indeed be all up in your smurfing face! The movie was originally supposed to be completely animated. But after the success of live-action/CG films like Alvin and The Chipmunks and Garfield, The Smurfs Movie will be a combination of live action actors and CG Smurfs. And just like UP, Coraline, Monsters Vs Aliens and a slew of other upcoming animated, live action, and live action SLASH animated movies, we will gladly pay the extra buckage for the 3-D experience. The film is being directed by Colin Brady, and was written by Shrek 2 scribes David Stem and David Weiss.
The film will be based on the characters created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford, known throughout the world as Peyo. "The Smurfs" were created for a Belgian series of comic books, first as minor characters. The villagers, known for their blue skin and small statures, spawned a line of statuettes, games, toys, theme parks and a hit TV series which ran from 1981-90.
So are you excited for The Smurfs Movie? Does it need to be in 3-D? Or are you wondering, who gives a smurf?
