Zack Snyder Talks about casting Vanessa Hudgens in SUCKER PUNCH

by Joey Paur

Zack Snyder is currently gearing up to direct his crazy hardcore girly action film 'Sucker Punch'. I couldn't be more excited to see how this film turns out. I love the concept and the setting for the story. The story follows a group of young girls locked away in an insane asylum who dream up crazy fantasy's of escaping the institution. Zack Snyder recently came out to talk about the casting of High School Musical Star Vanessa Hudgens as one of the crazies. Here is what Snyder had to say:

She rehearsed, she did the audition for the scene. I wasn't sure at first - [the casting people] were like ‘Oh, Vanessa's coming' and I was ‘Oh, okay - that sounds cool' but I didn't know what to think.

When I heard she was cast in the role I felt exactly the same way. Why would Snyder cast this girl from the Disney crowd in such an intense violent film? Because she obviously impressed the hell out of him.

Then I saw the tape and I literally went ‘Wow, she’s good', she’s really good. Then I talked to her about what she’d have to do.

Sounds like they will be  shedding her High School Musical skin and putting her through some crazy intense physical training with the rest of the cast which includes Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Jamie Chung and Abbie Cornish. All these girls will probably go threw a similar training regiment that the guys from '300' had to go through.

You're going to see her shooting machine guns, fighting, beating the sh-t out of people. It's funny, we sat her down for her physical evaluation, and she was really athletic. She's a dancer, so all the choreography is gonna be fun for her. It'll allow her to stretch herself and do whatever she wants, and not be too exposed by the movie - but also, on the other hand, do things that people have never seen her do. She has a big part, but she's not the center of the movie.

I can't wait to see the action that Snyder plans on pulling off for this film. He has said that 'Sucker Punch' will be his first real action film, and look at the stuff he has already done!  So hell yeah I'm excited! Aren't you?
