FX picks up animated comedy ARCHER
Nick Grad, over at FX just announced that they've ordered up six episodes of director Adam Reed's half hour animated show tentatively titled Archer, which the network plans to launch this fall.
The anmiated comedy takes place at ISIS, an international spy agency, where global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other. Lending their voices is an all star cast of voice and comedy actors. Jon Benjamin(Family Guy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force) stars as the suave master spy "Sterling Archer," whose less-than-masculine code name is "Duchess"; Jessica Walter(Arrested Development) as his domineering mother and boss, "Malory"; Aisha Tyler(Ghost Whisperer, Friends) as his ex-girlfriend, "Agent Lana Kane"; Chris Parnell(SNL, 30 Rock) as ISIS comptroller and Lanas new love interest, "Cyril Figgis"; and Judy Greer(It's Always Sunny, Arrested Development) as Malorys lovesick secretary, "Cheryl."
Grad continued by saying...
This project has been a great surprise for us and were excited about adding it to our fall schedule. Adam Reed has written successful animated series for Adult Swim/Cartoon Network, and he has taken this format and given it a live-action feel. It is a smart, adult comedy and the characters are given voice by a terrific cast. It clearly fits the FX brand and we believe it will find support from the fans of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Reed, was a writer on Space Ghost, and along with Matt Thompson, co-created the animated series Frisky Dingo and Sealab 2021. Reed is equally as excited, explaining:
I've been a fairly rabid fan of FX's original programming for a long time, so I'm thrilled by the opportunity to become a part of it, and to bring our style of animation and comedy to such a fantastic line-up.
Archer has solid people at the helm, and an incredible cast! This looks like it'll be another winner for FX. What are your thoughts on Archer?
