One of the Panels I was extremely lucky enough to get into was the Smallville panel at Comic-Con. I think I was the last person to get in before they wouldn't let anyone else in. I was standing next to the wall so I couldn't report on what was going on while it was happening. I did record audio though and from the audio I bring you the Smallville Comic-Con panel, and this is the first year ever that Tom Welling made an appearance and the crowd loved it.

I am a huge fan of the show and have been since it started, and after watching the incredible footage that they showed us, this could end up being the best season yet.

FOOTAGE DESCRIPTION

"The world's greatest hero has risen" appears on screen along with the Superman logo.

"And he is not alone," followed by a montage of scenes depicting Clark's path to becoming a hero. Including shots of each Justice League member who has fought with him such as Aquaman, Black Canary, Impulse, Cyborg, Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl, Green Arrow, the Legion and Watchtower.

They show Clark running in and out of phone booths a couple times.

Then we get our first look of Zod, who's brought several friends with him. They show him fighting with Tess.

Lois is seen fighting in the future.

Chloe relies on the protection of a gun this season.

Brian Austin Green's Metallo has a very evil and very cool look to him. He's got the Kryptonite power source on his chest, iconic for the Metallo character.

There's a pretty steamy love scene between Lois and Clark that is pretty intense. Yeah, fans are going to love it.

For a split second it seems that Lex has appeared on screen, they pretty much reveal he is not dead at the panel.

As he stands on the rooftop of a building looking over Metropolis, we see Clark in his great looking new outfit. It's all black and no spandex, There is a silver Superman logo on the front of his outfit and he wears a pretty slick long black trench coat that doubles as a cape.

THE PANEL REVEALS

Chloe and Clark's relationship will be very strained. Executive producer Kelly Souders said, "They have a little bit of a rocky start."

Erica Durance as Lois will show up in 18 episodes this season.

Regarding Lois and Clark's relationship Erica Durance said, "I think you guys are going to be pretty excited this year, Lois is dealing with being smitten with Superman and still finds Clark irritating." This season is going to be "spicy," she added. Lois and Clark will definitely grow closer this year, but there's a love triangle between Clark, Lois and the Blur. "Just as Clark falls for Lois, she's falling for someone else."

Any relationship for Chloe and Clark is "dead in the water," said Allison. Clark is preoccupied with other women, and Chloe is dealing with the loss of Jimmy while stepping into a more powerful position as Watchtower.

The entire panel kept quiet when asked if there would be a Smallville movie in the future. But the crowd went crazy when asked if the fans wanted to see it happen. We sure hope it does.

Regarding the new Superman suit, Kelly explained that Clark doesn't just show up to a tailor and figure it out the first time. The producers know there is a long arc for Clark to become Superman, and it's a bumpy road.

Justin Hartley said we will see a lot more of the Green Arrow this year. He's going to be struggling in a dark place. Peterson added that in the first eight episodes you "will see him hit rock bottom."

The producers said Metallo (Brian Austin Green) is a big part of the first two episodes. The ninth season also brings the return of Toyman, and we'll see Roulette as well.

Kelly said they do have a series finale planned if the ninth season is their last; however, it could change if they are picked up for a 10th season. When asked if the crowd wanted to see a tenth season they of course went crazy for it.

Geoff Johns, who wrote Legion this year, is writing another episode this season and said it will be Justice Society of America. Which will be very cool.

Tom Welling is directing two episodes this season, while Allison Mack will direct one.

When asked if Lex was actually dead, Peterson said, we all know from the mythos that Lex is "absolutely not dead." So there you have that.

Peterson said they are brainstorming for a Green Arrow sidekick story.
