TRUE BLOOD Gets a 3rd Season!
Season 2 of the hit HBO series True Blood is a about a month into it's run and HBO executives have announced today that they will be movie the story forward for a third season. Their plan is to bring it back in June of 2010. This is a great show, and if you haven't been watching you should check it out, it is just getting better and better. Michael Lombardo, the president, programming group says:
"I think one of the reasons we brought it back as soon as we did is we always felt it felt like a summer show. So the hope is to bring it back next summer."
HBO has also picked up new seasons of Hung and Entourage
"We have picked up all three shows that are on Sunday night. True Blood ... will be coming back next summer. We're very excited about it, so stay tuned for next June."
HBO co-president Richard Plepler added that high ratings gave them the confidence to renew the show again.
"The size of these shows has really broken through into the popular culture in a way we haven't seen before,"
As for the Evan Rachel Woods debut as the lesbian Vampire Queen of Louisiana Lombardo say's:
"It totally delivers,"
As for if Wood's character will have any involvement with the newly ordered third season, Lombardo explains:
"We actually haven't sat down with [series creator] Alan [Ball] and heard his plans for season three yet, I'm sure we're going to be surprised and excited about it."
