I didn't see this one coming, but I'm not surprised either. With all of the successful musicals that have come to the big screen I guess it was only a matter of time before Tim Rice's and Andrew Lloyd Webber's, Jesus Christ Superstar got a 21st century makeover. Did you know Abba's Mama Mia made about $600 million dollars!? So yes,  Jesus Christ Superstar is the next film they hope blows up at the box office.

Marc Platt is producing the film, and he's bringing a ton of movies to the big screen like Wanted, Nine, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, and he is bringing Wicked to the big screen as well. The most interesting thing about this news though is who it is they are talking to about directing the film, Marc Webb.

Marc Webb, is the guy that directed my favorite movie of the year so far... (500) Days of Summer, and according to an anonymous source Webb is keen to do it. He used to be a music video director, and this could be a project he could jump into to bring this rock opera back to life on the big screen. Marc Webb is a great director and I am sure he will do wonders with the film if he chooses to direct it.
