The Collector is probably the most intense film I have seen all year, I was on the edge of my seat through 90% of the movie. I thought I would like this movie, I was afraid that I might be disappointed, but I wasn’t, the film delivered what it set out to do, and that was to get the audience engaged with what was going on in the movie and stress they hell out of them. There were a ton of chattering teenagers in the theater that were yapping away, I was getting pissed that they might keep the talking up throughout the movie, and they did during the set up part but as soon as the shit hit the fan, they shut up and the only thing I heard out of them, and the rest of the audience were grunts, groans, gasps, and screams.

Desperate to repay his debt to his ex-wife, The story follows an ex-con who plots a heist at his new employer's country home, so that he can repay his debt to his ex-wife. When he breaks in he is unaware that a second criminal has also targeted the property, and rigged it with a bunch of crazy deadly traps.

This movie took you on a thrill ride, the whole time I was rooting for the main character. this guy was awesome and smart. He does everything right in the movie, not like in those teeny bopper horror films where everyone in the movie is stupid as hell, making all the wrong decisions. You will want to cheer this guy on.

There are parts in the film where you will want to look away because this film doesn’t hold back on the graphic violence. This film goes all out. It was nice to see a crazy horror slasher film with a good story, a new and original slasher, and a main character that is equally as smart, and as motivated as the killer. The killer in this film was incredibly creepy, it all in his eyes, they are black as night, now soul, and there are these great shots where the eyes have this creepy ass glow to them, that is really quite frightening and evil.

The film stared josh Stewart as the main characters and he did a great job, I’d like to see him in some more films. The director, Marcus Dunstan, did a great job bringing this story to life. He’s got a very cool visual eye, it will be cool to see what he directs next.

The Collector was a very good horror/slasher film, way better than what has recently been released in the genre. If you like these types of films then you need to see The Collector, it brings the madness, and delivers the intensity.
