Yesterday we reported on the possibility that Bryan Singer would produce the new Battlestar Galactica movie that is being developed over at Universal Pictures. We weren't sure if he would end up directing it or not, but today Entertainment Weekly has confirmed  that Bryan Singer will in fact direct the new Battlestar Galactica film. So he will be both producing and directing.

The movie will not continue the story of the recent series that just finished its run on the SyFy channel, but it will be a complete re-imagining of the classic 1970's series.

I'm interested to see what Singer has in store for this movie. He recently directed the Tom Cruise film Valkyrie, and is a decent director. The movie will definitely have that Hollywood polish that everyone of his films has had, after The Usual Suspects. I hope they are able to put together a good solid story, they need to. I think it will be hard for them to top what the SyFy channel has done with the franchise, that really set the bar for me. In the end, there are going to be fans of the show disappointed in this movie. Bryan Singer has put himself in the position once again to get crapped on by rabid fans. For the record, I liked what he did with X-Men, but hated what he did with Superman.

So what do you think about Singer directing Galactica?
