John Landis to direct Simon Pegg in BURKE AND HARE

by Eli Reyes

Here's some pretty mind blowing news for you comedy fans out there! DreadCentral reports director John Landis will be teaming up with Simon Pegg to bring the true crime story of Burke and Hare to the big-screen. Also known as the West Port murders, these crimes were perpetrated in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1827 and 1828. The killings were attributed to Irish immigrants William Burke and William Hare, who sold the corpses of their seventeen victims to the Edinburgh Medical College for dissection.

Landis is a full blown legend, helming comedy classics like Animal House and the Blues Brothers, as well as directing many horror films and a little music video for that song you may have heard, "Thriller." Pegg is a legend in the making, writing and starring in films like Shaun of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, and the upcoming geek out comedy Paul.

No word as of yet as to which William, Pegg will be playing, or who may be paired with him. We can only hope that Pegg's frequent collaborator Nick Frost will be slashing alongside him.

This will be one of many films based on the West Port murders. The last being a 1972 a musical comedy called Burke & Hare, which you can check out below.

So what do you think of Landis and Pegg taking on Burke and Hare?
