Animated SPAWN TV Series is Returning According to Todd McFarlane

Todd McFarlane is starting to engulf himself in Spawn once again. As you know has has been doing the comic books again, he just recently started writing the script to his new Spawn movie, and now he is saying that Spawn will return to TV Animated style. Here is what he said recently via his twitter:

ANIMATION: For those that've asked, the SPAWN ANIMATED show will be back in Hollywood's face in 2010. Legal issues delayed it past few years

I have been hearing about this for years. I always wanted to see it happen, but I never actually thought it would because he would keep talking about it, and then nothing would happen. So, I'm not sure how serious he is about it this time around.

Spawn had a great animated series run on HBO that ended up winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Series. I thought the animated series, in which Keith David provided the voice of Spawn, was great and I've wanted to see more. It's been about 10 years since the show went off the air. If it is coming out next year, like he says it is, then the show should already be in production, and with the people I know in the animation industry I have heard nothing about this going on, which makes me doubt that this is really happening. Unless he plans to start production up in 2010.

He didn't really say if the animated series would be a continuation of the series  or a complete reboot. At one point he was developing a animated Spawn movie but that never got past pre-production, and yes, it was due to legal issues.

What do you all think about a new Spawn animated series? Are you excited about it or are you done with Spawn?
