great Short Film/Music Video from 500 DAYS OF SUMMER's Webb, Deschanel and Gordon-Levitt

by Eli Reyes

For almost a year we've been recommending... often times shoving it down your throats that you need to see the film 500 Days of Summer. And you seem to have listened. The anti-romantic comedy from director Marc Webb which stars Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has already grossed close to $8 million in it's very limited release.

Today we bring you a short film from USAtoday which marks the third time the trio have collaborated. First for 500 Days, then their Cinemash reenactment of Sid and Nancy, and now this fun music video which they did for just that... fun!

We all saw Gordon-Levitt show off his dance skills in the musical scene from 500 Days, but he shows off his acrobatic skills in this as well.

Gordon-Levitt plays a stoic man in a neat blue suit, turning to crime in a moment of absolute desperation. Deschanel is the gorgeous, wide-eyed teller, disarming the dangerous man (metaphorically speaking) in a playful, twirling, fox-trotting dance through the stuffy, starkly lit marble lobby. The other dour denizens go about their business unaware.

The song featured is "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here" from Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward's band She And Him.

Deschanel and Gordon-Levitt(who previously starred together in Manic) say they "hope to team up repeatedly and have aspirations of being a regular screen couple, like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers or Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn."

I suggested in our Interview with the actors that they're like Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet and likened  500 Days as their Titanic, and Manic as their Revolutionary Road.

As convincing as they are together on screen, they're not a real couple, Deschanel is engaged to Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard.

Deschanel says of Joseph, whom she's been friends with for of over 10 years:

I think it's great to have continuous collaborators. It's a shortcut that makes it so much more fun. The job is much easier when you can go to set and be like, 'Ah, Joe!' "

She continues joking...

And it's not like, 'Hey, nice to meet you — let's make out! LALAlalala(she says, closing her eyes and sticking out her tongue in a mock French kiss)As weird as it is filming a love story in front of a million people, at least you have your friend.
