TRON LEGACY will get a simultaneous IMAX 3D release!!!
As if the December 17th, 2010 release date of Tron Legacy wasn't sweet enough, Walt Disney Studios and IMAX Corporation announced today that the high-tech 3D adventure will simultaneously be released to IMAX theatres in IMAX 3D-- coinciding with the Disney Digital 3D wide release.
Director Joseph Kosinski's sequel to the 1982 original, Tron Legacy will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with IMAX DMR (Digital Re-Mastering) technology.
No longer will you have to wait weeks for it to show up at an IMAX theater! You can go out and catch it in all it's IMAX 3D glory on opening day.
President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group, Mark Zoradi said:
This is an ideal movie for IMAX's immersive format. Tron Legacy already packs a punch in Disney Digital 3D, and to give audiences the option to experience the enhanced premium IMAX 3D version is a real treat. We're particularly excited to reach a much wider audience now that the IMAX network is expanding with its digital locations.
Tron Legacy marks the third film in the previously announced five-picture agreement between IMAX and Walt Disney

There is no better way to watch a movie like Tron Legacy than in IMAX 3D. With the it's rich ground-breaking visuals, people would have drooled over it anyway. But I expect to go into a comatose state with the immersive IMAX experience.
Tron Legacy stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen.
The 3D adventure is set in the digital world, and centers on Sam Flynn (Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Bridges reprising his role), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra(Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
