David Fincher's AT&T ads from 1993 depict eerily Accurate Future!

Here are some AT&T commercials from way back in 1993 that you may actually remember. When I saw them, I instantly felt like I just played Ninja Turtles 2 on Nintendo all day long.

What is surprising about these ads directed by a then relatively unknown David Fincher, and narrated by a then (and still) mustached Tom Selleck, is their surprisingly accurate predictions about the future of technology.

The commercials each start with the phrase, "Have you ever [something technologically far-fetched and unthinkable at the time] ..." and end with, "...you will. And the company that will bring it to you: AT&T."

Even with their accurate insights into future, AT&T wasn't the company that blazed the trails for these now common and everyday luxuries. Of course there are a couple of things they got wrong, and they still had faith that phone booths would still be in prevalent use.

But compared to the Flying Car and Jet Pack predictions of the past, these 16 year old ads are quit eerie, predicting: E-Books, in-car GPS, tablet PCs, E-ZPass, video conferencing, and video on demand.
