Douglas, LeBeouf & Langella on the set of Oliver Stone's WALL STREET 2
Michael Douglas is back as the ruthless corporate banker Gordon Gekko, reprising the role which earned him an Academy-Award in 1987's Wall Street, directed by Oliver Stone.
Stone, Douglas, Shia LeBeouf, and Frank Langella were out filming the sequel, titled Wall Street 2:Money Never Sleeps, in New York yesterday.
Oliver Stone explains of Gekko's return:
When Gekko comes out of prison in the beginning of this movie, he essentially has to redefine himself, redefine his character. He's looking for that second chance.
Wall Street 2 finds the global economy teetering on the brink of disaster, and centers on young Wall Street trader Jake Moore(LaBeouf), and disgraced former Wall Street corporate raider Gordon Gekko(Douglas), emerging after serving time in prison for insider trading. The two must partner together on a two-tiered mission: To alert the financial community to the coming doom, and to find out who was responsible for the death of the young trader’s mentor, Lewis Zabel(Langella).
Rounding out the cast is Carey Mulligan, as Douglas’ daughter and Labeouf's fiancé; Josh Brolin as the head of an investment banka; Susan Sarandon as Labeouf’s mother; and Charlie Sheen will make a cameo appearance as Bud Fox, the fledgling stockbroker who ultimately brought down Gekko in the original.
London and Dubai will also be featured as locations.
Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, is expected to hit theaters in April 2010.
