Twilight Author Stephanie Meyer Sells Rights to Non Twilight Novel... THE HOST

the-host

Stephanie Meyer has sold off the rights to another one of her books that has nothing to do with Twilight. It still doesn't mean she is a good writer, it just means her work it very hot in the entertainment industry right now. So hot that producers Nick Wechsler, Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz have used their own money to acquire screen rights to Stephenie Meyer's The Host.

Instead of a love story built around vampires and werewolves, this love story revolves around aliens. Yes, Meyer's novel is a love story set in the near future on Earth, which has been assimilated by an alien species of benevolent parasites that call themselves "Souls." One such soul, the Wanderer, is fused with a dying human named Melanie Stryder, in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth.

Once again, I could care less, it doesn't sound interesting at all. In fact the people I know that have read and love the Twilight series didn't really like The Host. If fact a few girls I know couldn't even finish reading it because they didn't like it. I have a feeling the The Host is not going to be as big a hit as the producers hope it is.

Andrew Niccol is attached to write and direct the script. He has writen and directed some really good films like Gattaca, Lord of War, The Truman Show (script), and The Terminal (Script). He is currently working on The Cross starring Orlando Bloom.

So what do you think of Stephanie Meyers new film venture with The Host?
