It looks like Thomas Haden Church (Spider-man 3), James Purefoy (Rome) and Mark Strong (Kick Ass) have all joined the cast for the Andrew Stanton directed film, John Carter of Mars, which is being adapted from Edgar Rice Burroughs sci-fi fantasy book series. Taylor Kitsch,Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton, Dominic West, and Polly Walker have already been cast in the movie, which follows a Civil War veteran (Kitsch) who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars, where he becomes embroiled with the planet’s warring people.

Church plays Tal Hajus, an ambitious and vicious Thark warrior who is biding his time to be a ruler. Purefoy will play Kantos Kan, the captain of the Xavarian, the kingdom of Helium’s grand warship. Strong is Matai Shang, the ruler of the Thems with godlike status.

What this means is that the events, action and stories from the three book are going to be combined into one story. They have cast character that don't show up until the second and third book. Maybe they have expanded the story and the characters. I just can't help but think that Disney and Pixar is going to want to turn this into a franchise. But ya never know. What do you think they are going to do?
