Here's another six figure deal that just went down! BloodyDisgusting reports Sony's Columbia Pictures dropped some sweaty cash for an original spec script from actor/writers Christopher Allen Nelson and Mitch Rouse, for their horror-action Supermax.

Supermax takes place in a Maximum Security Prison for the Super-Natural as a skilled guard must join forces with a lethal inmate after a riot ensues in order to fight his way through various monsters and mad-men in order to survive.

You had me at prison for the super-natural. That's a great world for anyone to play in! Think of the possibilities.

Nelson has acted in films and television, but his primary background is in special FX and make-up. His film and TV credits include  Return of the Living Dead II, Constantine, Sin City, Criminal Minds, and Tim Burton's upcoming Alice In Wonderland.

Nelson met Rouse on the set of the 2004 Matt Dillon starrer Employee of the Month, which Rouse wrote and directed. And the two went on to star together his Spike TV series "The Factory". You may also recognize Rouse from his reoccurring role as the Fireman on Reno 911!

Supermax is being Executive Produced by Sony's DeVon Franklin and Doug Belgrad and also Executive Produced by Sean Robins and Todd Garner for Broken Road Productions.

Shooting will begin on Supermax early next year.

I'm always pleasantly surprised to hear studios paying big bucks to grab up an original idea! Especially on something like a pitch, or a spec script!

What do you think of Christopher Allen Nelson and Mitch Rouse's supernatural action horror flick Supermax?

NOTE:

This is unrelated to the DC comics Green Arrow: Super Max film that Justin Marks wrote and David S. Goyer is developing over at Warner Bros. The similarities in the plot and title are purely coincidental... I hope. That, or these guys just got the easiest pay check of their lives!
