SUSPIRIA Remake Will Start Shooting Next Year

suspiria

One of my favorite horror films of all time, Suspiria, is getting remade. The news broke last year that Dario Argento's 1977 classic horror film was going to the the remake treatment and that the movie would be directed by David Gordon Green, who directed Pineapple Express, and is currently shooting the film, Your Highness. Variety reports that the production company making the film, First Sun, is on track to produce the long-in-gestation remake of Dario Argento's 1977 cult hit "Suspiria." It will be helmed by David Gordon Green with a 2010 shooting date.

I'm not sure what to think about this remake. I don't think it needs to be remade, but I think David Gordon Green is a very strong director, and a part of me wants to see what he will do with the story, which follows a newcomer American girl to a fancy ballet academy who gradually comes to realize that the staff of the school are actually a coven of witches bent on chaos and destruction. If you haven't seen the original film, Halloween is coming up and it's the perfect time to watch this film!

Natalie Portman was actually rumored to star in the remake, which would be great, I think she is perfect for the role. She is currently cast in another ballet film called Black Swan which we've talked about, and she is also starring in David Gordon Green's new film Your Highness. So Suspiria may be right up her ally.

What do you all think of the fact that David Gordon Green is directing Suspiria?
