Hurt Locker Director Kathryn Bigelow to Direct HELD BY THE TALIBAN

Movie Kathryn Bigelow by Joey Paur

The Hurt Locker was definitely one of my favorite movie last year and it's my pick for Best Picture of the year. I thought director Kathryn Bigelow did a fantastic job telling that story, and I've been looking forward to seeing what ever film she is going to do next. Production Weekly reports that she is attached to direct a film called Held By The Taliban, which is based on a series of articles in the NY Times by David Rohde.

The article which was published last year is called 7 Months, 10 days in Captivity. It follows the nightmarish ordeal of journalist David Rohde who was actually kidnapped in Afghanistan while working on a book about the region. This story is definitely right up Bigelow's alley. She's definitely got what it takes to bring this story to life on the big screen. If you've seen The Hurt Locker then you know that she knows how to make a realistically intense, gritty war film.

Make sure to read the NY Times article if you haven't already because it a pretty intense story and should make for a great film.
