STAR TREK 2 Gets a Release Date!
The sequel to my favorite movie of 2009 Star Trek has been given a tentative release by Paramount Pictures! The highly anticipated sequel to J.J. Abrams Star Trek will most likely be released the weekend of June 29th 2012, right before the fourth of July holiday. As of right now this is the only movie scheduled to come out in June of that summer.
As for what we know about Star Trek 2... not much. There is a lot of speculation of what the story will be, and we know there are a lot of ideas floating around, but nothing is solidly confirmed. J.J. Abrams still hasn't decided if he will direct the sequel or not, he's waiting for a finished script to come in before he decides if it's the right move for him. He will definitely produce the film though. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman who wrote the first film is also writing the script for the second, and the full cast is expected to return to reprise their roles.
I can't wait to see where the characters boldly go in this next Star Trek film, and I hope Abrams end's up taking them there.
