Jason Segel's THE MUPPETS Gets its Human Cast
Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones are all in negotiations to join the cast of Jason Segel's untitled movie for the The Muppets. This is a pretty freakin' awesome group of actors for this project!
Segel co-wrote the script with Nicholas Stoller, and he also has a role in the movie. The story is loosely based on a original idea from Jim Henson called The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made, where Gonzo is hired to direct a film, but winds up blowing his entire budget on the first day. From there, he's forced to finish the picture without any money but with the help of his Muppet friends.
Adams will end up playing Segel's character's girlfriend with Jones as a ABC network executive and Cooper as the film's villain, who seeks to ruin the Muppets' film studio in order to dig for oil beneath it. He also never thought the Muppets were funny to begin with.
This should turn out to be a really fun Muppets project. The Muppets is planned to begin production next month in Los Angeles with a Christmas 2011 release date.
What do you think of the cast they are bringing together?
