DIRECTORS STATEMENT:

I'm excited to be a part of Discursion because of it's unique take on the post apocalyptic, viral outbreak
genre. We are going to be pushing the barrier of what people expect out of a low budget independent
horror film not only visually but with the story as well. It's not your typical cliche' story that tries to keep it's audience by racking up a huge body count. It's more of a psychological struggle about the main characters progression into madness as the lines between reality and fantasy blur together, all set to the backdrop of complete hopelessness. The horror scenes are intense and absolutely terrifying. It really puts you as an audience member into the story, building up a level of paranoia and an uncertainty of what's going to happen next. We are really trying to remove that safety net and keep the film unpredictable. It's no surprise to the audience of when a scare is going to happen in horror films now a days, so it's all about misdirection.  With this project we are shooting very fast and raw. The idea is to keep the pace of the film up. We achieve this by shooting on DSLR camera's that allow us to do many quick takes with little down time. This allows the actors to stay in character and really immerse themselves into the world we are creating. One thing that we are doing is keeping the camera moving as often as possible, essentially making it it's own  character in the story. This allows people to experience things as she does. Aside from getting on set and making the film its self, I'm really looking forward to sitting down and watching the finished film with an audience so I can see their reactions. After the weeks of hard work and the long days and nights without sleep all that matters is how people receive it. After all that's why we do it, to entertain people and provide that short escape from their lives.
SYNOPSIS:

A survivor of warfare born chemical attack, Cassie Becker faces a new world of
terrible realization. The Human race has suffered terrible recourse in the wake of an
attack that never should have been leaving the remaining inhabitants in a state far less
then human. It has been six months since to the day in this new world of indescribable
destruction and isolated fear. In search of the only person she holds dear Cassie must
fight the onslaught of creatures once precious to her in an unstoppable journey to
reunite.
Discursion is a story of survival and isolation with a focus on the stability of the
human psyche to endure the most dire situations. What happens when we are robbed
of everything?

D I S C U R S I O N T H E M O V I E PRE - PRODUCTION NOTES:

When Mitchel A. Jones and Nicole Kruex merged companies in the spring on 2010 they vowed that within a year they would collectively build enough resources to finally produce a feature. It was only after
becoming influenced by the success of a similar bar bones crew attempt did they realize with the
skills they had honed in the previous months working for the Shad Ireland Foundation on various
music video projects and documentary work did they set out on a two person crew quest to complete
an entire feature. Armed with a 47 second trailer and a uniquely designed website, Jones and Kruex
announced their project on October 13th, 2010. This ambitious attempt, combined with a minimal budget, was to be the catapult to a larger tomorrow only they never expected the response they received!! One week into Pre-Production and the public had already donated 1/3 of the desired budget. Dozens of industry professionals flocked to the project with questions and offers to take it further then either Mitchel or Nicole had imagined!! They decided to re-tool and looked further in to better locations and more cast. The search lead them to Luverne, Isanti, Ham Lake, and Big Lake, Minnesota for various
locations including an entire town main street with building dating back to 1910!!!
As the production grew, the team had to as well. Jones and Kruex took on three producers and local
production professionals to ensure an amazing product.
Principal Photography begins October 20th, 2010.

D I S C U R S I O N T H E M O V I E CREW:

DIRECTOR – MITCHEL A. JONES
A born lover of Halloween Mitchel A. Jones was born in October of
1984 in Bryan, Ohio. Creatively inspired by the German Expressionistic
mind of Tim Burton, Mitchel began spinning short stories of his own and
developing stop motion animation films on an old VHS camcorder, and
with that his love for the process of film was discovered. Amidst perfecting
his wicked skate boarding skills, incredible talents for guitar and music
creation, his teen years focused his writing efforts into horror screenplays.
After high school Mitchel attempted to major in film at the University of Toledo only to
discover the curriculum a joke and his skills far beyond the general technics of the hobbyist
students around him. Bored with this, he branched out on his own choosing to spend his
tuition money on film equipment... This allowed him to work on several short film projects
before setting out on his own to shoot his first short film project with another student entitled
The Pilfer. The short was well received and unique for it's time.
Having spent a decent amount thus far, Mitchel felt it only wise to put his camera to work
for him and began shooting for the country/southern rock group Sierra Shame. Months of
bar scenes and line dancing had earned him cash but not much for film experience so when
he was offered the opportunity to work with the History channel on a Halloween special for
the show Modern Marvels he was more then ecstatic. Now bitten by the production bug he
took this as inspiration to start his own production company Chasing Autumn Films, LLC
and is currently developing a slate of horror films with partner company TRIWAR Pictures,
LLC that he will be writing and directing.
In the spring of 2010 he began working with the Shad Ireland foundation that is raising
awareness about the causes of kidney disease in under privileged communities. Since
signing on to the foundation he has directed a number of music videos and worked with
athletes and celebrities alike to give back to the communities that have given so much to
him.
