Hollywood Blvd. Superheroes Strike Back

Videos Web Series by Joey Paur

If you've been down to Hollywood Blvd. in the past then you know one of the coolest things about it was all the awesome costumed superheroes walking the streets! It was one of my favorite parts about going to Hollywood, watching them walking around a posing with tourists. If you go there now... there are no superheroes in the streets and Hollywood Blvd. has become a boring and bare wasteland of normallcy. Jimmy Kimmel always featured these street performers on his show, and a great documentary was made about these people called Confessions of a Superhero which you can watch on Hulu for free.

In June the LAPD wanted to cleanse the streets of Hollywood of these costumed vigilantes. They made a ton of arrests. The reason for the crackdown is because of complaints from both tourists and shop-owners, that the superheroes were becoming too aggressive, pestering tourist for tips. So pretty much a couple bad apples ruined it for the rest of the performers. It's really sad to see what's happened to these individuals. This was their life.

There is a new documentary that we told you about a while ago that focuses on this current situation called The Ambassadors of Hollywood. Now Craigslist TV has put together a simular production, being called Superheroes Strike Back.

Superman (aka Christopher Dennis from the popular documentary “Confessions of a Superhero”) posted an ad on CL to unite the costumed Superheroes that were ejected from Hollywood Boulevard on Memorial Day. They come together – both hero and villain – at the “Townhall of Injustice” to figure out how to fight city hall. Darth Vader, Superman, Charlie Chaplin all clash at the meeting, and can’t agree on anything. Later Superman attempts another costumed walk on Hollywood Blvd. and is again harassed by the police. Now he’s determined to try to get his fellow costumed characters together to finally protest in front of city hall, and take their case to the press.

This is a two part episode that is about 15 minutes long. Check it out below and tell us what you think!
