A new Doctor Who audio adventure is available, continuing the travels of the Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor. McGann starred in the 1996 failed pilot that attempted to bring back the series, but although he's only made one onscreen appearance, he's been performing in Doctor Who audio dramas for a good while now. This story features the classic Ice Warriors.
"The Ice Warriors, first encountered by the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton), return for a brand new audio outing. This time, however, it is the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) who comes face to face with these familiar, noble creatures...
Millions of years ago, the noble Ice Warriors fled to Deimos, moon of Mars, hoping to sit out the radioactive death throes of their home planet. When the TARDIS lands on Deimos, the Doctor discovers that the Warriors' ancient catacombs are now a popular stop for space tourists. But the Martian dynasties are more than history, and the Warriors are far from extinct. It's not for nothing that 'Deimos' is the ancient word for 'dread'…
Paul McGann (The Doctor), Niky Wardley (Tamsin Drew), David Warner (Professor Boston Schooner), Nicky Henson (Gregson Grenville), Susan Brown (Margaret), Tracy-Ann Oberman (Temperance Finch), Nick Wilton (Harold), Nicholas Briggs (The Ice Warriors), Jack Brown (Pilot)
I'm glad these audios are regularly released--they give us an alternative way to enjoy Doctor Who stories and allow actors from much earlier in the series to reprise their roles without having to explain away their aging.
