Feature Film version Michael Jackson's THRILLER on it's Way to the Big Screen!?

Movie Michael Jackson by Joey Paur

Who doesn't love Michael Jackson's Thriller!? That music video was freakin' awesome! My kids even enjoy it. Now, as much as I think it's a great and iconic music video, I still don't feel the need to see a whole movie based on it. But production companies Fox 2000, Mandate/Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment all think that we want to see a feature film version of the classic 80's music video. Because they're all in negotiations to bring it to life.

Apparently the film has quietly been being shopped around Hollywood by Real Effects Entertainment. The production package also has Kenny Ortega (This Is It) attached to direct, and The Hangover scribe Jeremy Garelick will write the screenplay.

The plot is being kept under wraps, but it obviously has to do with the song's folklore, involving Vincent Price and the town he grew up in.

Thriller was directed by John Landis back in 1983, and it was a huge success. I hope people realize that a feature film adaptation of this music video just wont work. What's the point of doing it without Michael Jackson? That's what I think about it anyway. What are your thoughts on a big screen version of Thriller?

Here's the music video for your visual entertainment:
