Johnny Depp Offered the Lead role in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN

Ok, so I thought the part of the Huntsman was going to go to Tom Hardy, because that's what's been being reported. Now all of a sudden, from out of nowhere Johnny Deep is offered the role. Now, just because he's been offered the part doesn't mean he's going to take it. The guy is one of Hollywood's biggest and busiest actors. It makes me wonder if Hardy turned down the role to focus on Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

It was also recently reported that commercial director Rupert Sanders would direct the film, and that Charlize Theron was in talk to play the evil queen that want's Snow White dead.

The script for the film is said to be incredibly good. It was written by Evan Daugherty and the story features an expanded role for the Huntsman, who in the original story lets Snow White go after being ordered to kill her in the woods. In Daugherty's script, the Huntsman is haunted by a white wolf that killed his wife, and there's a pervasive sadness about the character that makes the void in his life feel quite real.

He'll be chained to Snow White for part of the live-action movie as the duo make their escape from a pair of bounty hunters. The Huntsman then serves as a mentor who teaches the teenage Snow White how to fight against her evil step-mother, Ravenna. And don't worry -- a handsome prince is still the love interest."

This could end up being a pretty awesome Snow White film. I'm actually kind of getting excited for it regardless of who gets cast in the film, it's a new and different take on a classic story.

Like I said earlier, Depp is an incredibly busy actor he has The Tourist opening in December, Rango opening in March, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opening in May, and an indie drama called The Rum Diary opening sometime next year as well.

While he's busy doing publicity for the movies above he is also attached to star in several other films including Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger, Rob Marshall's remake of The Thin Man and several other projects, including Kathryn Bigelow's Sleeping Dogs.

I don't know where Depp is going to find the time to star in another movie, but maybe he can make it happen. I guess we'll find out soon.

What do you think about Depp possibly taking on the role of The Huntsman?
