Fox Has Reportedly Offered WOLVERINE 2 to Darren Aronofsky

Not much else besides the headline on this one, folks. We've known for a while that Darren Aronofsky's name was on a list of contenders for the Wolverine 2 director's chair, but Deadline reports that the official offer has been extended. Keep in mind - this doesn't mean that he's taken the job yet.

Much has been made of Aronofsky's connection with Wolverine star Hugh Jackman, since the two worked together on the fantastic 2005 film The Fountain. Aronofsky has been hoping to direct films with larger budgets, and since his Robocop reboot fell apart at MGM, he's been looking for something to fill that void. With his latest film Black Swan gaining buzz on the festival circuit, the director was recently rumored to be a candidate for the new Superman movie (a job which, in case you've been living under a rock, went to Zack Snyder yesterday).

What do you think about Aronofsky directing a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Do you think this is a good choice, both for Aronofsky and for 20th Century Fox?
