Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth are currently in negotiations to join Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. If the deal becomes official with Columbia Pictures they will be joining Nic Cage, Ciaran Hinds and Violante Placido who have already been cast. The film is scheduled to be released on February 17, 2012 in both 2D and 3D. Filming is scheduled to start next month in Romania and Turkey.
Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor will direct the film that follows Johnny Blaze, played by Cage, as he attempts to stop the Devil, played by Hinds, from taking the soul of his human son. Idris Elba is said to play an alcoholic warrior that is on the trail fo Johnny Blaze. Johnny Whitworth will play a criminal who is working as the devil’s henchman to help him find his son.
I have become increasingly impressed with Elba and his versatility from his stint on The Office, his recent films and his current role on The Big C. He is an actor that can handle this type of role perfectly. Whitworth will also be believable as a bad guy. This film continues to shape up to sound better and better with each casting.
Do you think this film is shaping up to be better than the original?
