Robert Downey Jr. to star in Mayan Treasure Heist film YUCATAN

Robert Downey Jr. has added yet another acting job on his list of films he needs to do. He will star in a new film called Yucatan, which will be written by Sherlock Holmes screenwriter Anthony Peckham. Peckham is making seven-figures to start over on the project that the studio has wanted to make for half a decade.

Downey Jr. is set to play a renegade deep-sea salvage expert hired to steal a mysterious hidden treasure hidden deep underwater in the Mayan ruins of Yucatan.

The film is based on a story by the late actor Steve McQueen, who had intended starring in a film version himself. According to Deadline, McQueen compiled 1500 pages of notes and storyboards that filled 15 notebooks. These notebook were found by McQueen's son Chad and godson Lance Sloane discovered the notebooks in an old trunk.

This sounds like it could end up being a pretty cool heist film, and I love that the story comes from the mind of Steve McQueen. What do you all think?
