THREE STOOGES Dead For Jim Carrey

Movie Jim Carrey by

As far as Jim Carrey is concerned, The Three Stooges from The Farrelly Brothers is over.  The Farrelly Brothers started planning this film thirteen years ago and even had cast Sean Penn to play Larry.  Jim Carrey was eyeing the role of Curly and Benicio del Toro had signed on to play Moe.

Things lately have not been looking too good for the production.  To catch everyone up to speed here is what has happened.  First, Sean Penn dropped out after it was rumored that marital woes had compelled the actor to take a break from Hollywood.

Now, Carrey has officially abandoned the film.  In a recent interview with MTV he talked about why the film is dead to him.

Carrey stated..."I think it's dead,"He quickly added, "It's dead at least with me."

He decided to step away from the project because he did not feel capable of gaining the needed weight for the part.

"For me, I don't really want to do anything halfway, and I don't feel like a fat suit does it," he said. "I started experimenting with it a little bit, and I gained 35, 40 pounds. I wanted to gain another 30, 40. When you're [Robert] De Niro in your 20s or early 30s, you can kind of come back from that. It's a tough thing to come back from when you're upwards of 30. Your body can't carry it or you can have a cardiac arrest."

Sounds like a fair reason for not wanting to be in the film.  If this movie ever goes into production, who would you like to see in the roles of Larry, Curly and Moe?
