Wesley Snipes Headed To Jail!

Wesley Snipes has been ordered  by Senior U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges to report to the federal Bureau of Prisons so that he can begin serving his 36-month jail sentence.  The judge denied the actor's motion for a new trial and permission to interview jurors Friday.

Snipes will more than likely appeal the ruling.

Jude Hodges stated:

“The Defendant Snipes had a fair trial; he has had a full, fair, and thorough review of his conviction and sentence by the Court of Appeals; and he has had a full, fair, and thorough review of his present claims, during all of which he has remained at liberty. The time has come for the judgment to be enforced."

In February of 2008, Snipes was found guilty in Ocala on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to pay income tax.  Snipes had asserted that he was not given a fair trial because some of the jurors may have pre-judged his guilt. His team of lawyers had also been requesting a new trial because they believe that government witness and Snipes' former tax adviser, Kenneth I. Starr  was not a credible witness.

Both of the above motions had been argued on Monday before the judge at the Ocala federal courthouse.

Snipes' convictions and Hodge's 36-month sentence from back in July was upheld by a federal court of appeals.  Hodges did allow for Snipes' bail to be revoked pending resolution of these motions.

The Star-Banner is reporting that Snipes' attorney Daniel Meachum, had stated immediately following Monday's arguments that they would appeal to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals if Hodges were to deny his motions.

Things are definitely not looking too good for Wesley Snipes.  As more details are released regarding this case we will be sure to report on them.
