Johnny Depp & Tim Burton to Start Shooting DARK SHADOWS in April
We've been talking about the developments for Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's big screen adaptation of Dark Shadows for a long time. We knew they would eventually get around to doing it. The last I heard, production was set to begin in January, but it's now being reported that the start date has been moved to April.
Burton will direct the motion picture adaptation of the classic 1960's TV series, with Depp taking on the lead role of vampire Barnabas Collins.
Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to write the screenplay. This is the same guy who has written some pretty awesome novels such as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and most recently Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Both of these books are currently in the pipeline to become films.
For those of you who don't know about Dark Shadows, it was a daytime soap opera on ABC from 1966 to 1971. NBC tried to revive it as a weekly prime-time series in 1991. The show was famous for its gothic tone and setting.
It seems like there are a lot of people out there looking forward to this movie. What are your thoughts?
