Paul Dano Joins Rian Johnson's LOOPER

Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) is currently in talks to co-star in Rian Johnson's (Brick, The Brothers Bloom) upcoming sci-fi time travel film Looper. Dano will join the already cast Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt.

Johnson described Looper is a dark time travel movie that's set in a near future where time travel will be invented in a few decades. It involves a group of killers called Loopers who work for a crime syndicate in the future. Their bosses send their targets hogtied and blindfolded back in time to the Loopers, and their job is to simply shoot them in the head and dispose of the body. So the target vanishes from the future and the Loopers dispose of a corpse that doesn’t technically exist, a very clean system. Until the Complications arise.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a looper in the past, who goes on the run after “complications occur.” Blunt plays the female lead, a character named Sara who discovers Joe hiding out in her barn. Bruce Willis will play a looper from the future. Willis and Gordon-Levitt are going to play the same character in the film. Obviously at different ages in different time settings. There's no word yet on who Dano will play in the movie.

Johnson is a fantastic filmmaker, I love the films that he's made, and I'm really looking forward to seeing Looper. I have a feeling he's going to give us something incredibly fun and original, it's what he's good at!

The movie is set to begin production in January in Louisiana.
