TRANSPORTER TV Series is Moving Forward!

Earlier this year we reported that director Luc Besson was going to bring the badass Transporter film franchise to the small screen. It looks like a network has picked up the new Transporter TV series, and it will be moving into production. As you know the original films starred action super star Jason Statham.  Unfortunately he will not be involved with the series about a driver who delivers anything, anywhere... no questions asked. The report doesn't say which U.S. network has picked up the series but apparently its a big one.

The show will be a 12-part series that will start shooting early next year on a $48 million dollar budget. The first episode of the series will premiere in early November. French producer Lagardere Entertainment is financing the show, having licensed The Transporter from EuropaCorp.

EuropaCorp is also looking at developing a Taken TV series, but that wont happen until after Liam Neeson starts shooting the sequel in the spring of next year. I assume Neeson won't be involved with the Taken TV series either.

Besson is currently shooting a sci-fi action film called Lockout in Poland and it will wrap before Christmas. The film stars Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace, and will be released in early 2012 by FilmDistrict.

There's a lot of awesome potential for this Transporter TV series, I hope they do it right and have some fun with it.
