Ron Howard gives an Update on THE DARK TOWER

I'm extremely excited for Ron Howard's plan to adapt Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. They've come up with a fantastic plan to bring this story to life for the fans, and I have a feeling it's going to be a success.

As previously reported, the plan is to start everything off with a feature film, from there they will create a bridge to the second feature with a full season of TV episodes! We will then see the second film hit the big screen, and after the sequel is released we will see another season of The Dark Tower on TV. This season will focus on Deschain as a young gunslinger. The storylines will be taken from the prequel comic book series that King was heavily involved with. Then we will get the third and final film which will pick up with a mature Deshain as he completes his journey.

Deadline recently talked to Howard regrding the film, and here's what the director had to say,

It is going well, and it has been incredibly stimulating to work on. It's dense, a great author's life work is not to be taken lightly. It has been utterly fascinating to explore it, and we are having great creative conversations. I've begun tossing and turning at 3 in the morning over it, so that's a good sign.

Yes, it is a good sign. It's good to know they aren't taking it lightly. I'm sure they are going to do something incredible with this story, and I can't wait to see it!

Akiva Goldsman is writing the film and TV series, Brian Grazer is producing and Howard will direct the first film and the limited run series that will create a bridge to the second feature.
