Dan Brown Writing the script for his own Novel THE LOST SYMBOL

It looks like Dan Brown, the author of Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code will be adapting his own novel The Lost Symbol for the big screen. This is the third story featuring symbologist Dr. Robert Langdon. Eastern Promises screenwriter Steven Knight was writing the script before Brown jumped in to take a crack at it. 

The story follows Langdon as he travels to the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., where he gets involved with a mystery involving the Freemasons and their search for an ancient pyramid containing vast knowledge. When the book was published in 2009, it sold a million copies in its first day.

As you know, the previous two films starred Tom Hanks as Langdon and were directed by Ron Howard. It's unclear if either of these talents will return to the project. Howard will most likely be too busy adapting Stephen King's epic adventure The Dark Tower for its summer 2013. As for Hanks, he just isn't committed to it at this point. 

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to see another director tackle The Lost Symbol. I think it would be good to see a fresh take on this Langdon character and his adventures. What do you all think?
