Karate Kid Remake Director to Adapt BAKUGAN for Universal
The Karate Kid remake director Harald Zwart is set to direct a feature film adaptation of the popular strategic game and anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers. I've never played the game or seen the cartoon, but I'm sure there are some of you who have. If not here's a little rundown of the story.
Dan Kuso and his five on-line friends started playing Bakugan when game cards inexplicably fell from the sky. Using combinations of cards and special marbles that turn into monsters, they fight duels and win points. Dan loudly proclaims he's going to become the all-time champion. He and his friends learn that Bakugan monsters have lives in the dimension of Vestroia. But the mysterious gamer Masquerade is destroying the monsters he defeats by sending them to the Doom Dimension.
After seeing big screen adaptations for animated cartoons Avatar The Last Airbender and Dragonball Z, I can't help but think this is another craptastic movie in the making.
Zwart has directed films like Agent Cody Banks and The Pink Panther 2. I didn't really care for those films, but I liked The Karate Kid remake. I just have no interest in seeing a movie based on Bakugan, but there are a ton of fans out there that will be excited about it.
What do you think about Zwart directing the film adaptation of Bakugan?
