Check out this  behind the scenes featurette for Rockstar Games L.A. Noire.

The technology used to create this game is amazing. The cutting edge face recognition software used by Rockstar to record the actors facial expressions took 32 high-definition cameras. What they end up with is some of the most realistic in-game characters an eerily real look.

Synopsis:

Rockstar made a name for itself creating sandbox open-world games with lead characters that have little concern for the law. It's only natural, then, that people viewing the first L.A. Noire trailer assume you play a mobster up to no good in the 1940s. But that couldn't be further from the truth. In L.A. Noire, you play the seemingly incorruptible Cole Phelps, a beacon of integrity in a police department mired in scandals.
