Tom Hardy And Shia LaBeouf To Star In THE WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD

Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf are set to star in The Wettest County in the World, a dramatic thriller set during the Prohibition era from director John Hillcoat.  

The screenplay for the film was written by Nick Cave based on a novel from Matt Bondurant about a family of Prohibition-era bootleggers, and crimes committed by and against them. The film, which is aiming for a spring start date, is from the producers of Jarhead and Girl Interrupted and is being independently financed.  

Labeouf and Hardy are both familiar with working period films, but their film together marks a definite turn from their recent films.   Hardy is currently filming This Means War alongside Reese Witherspoon and has an as yet unrevealed part in The Dark Knight Rises.

Labeouf is connected to star alongside Paul Dano in College Republicans.  LaBeouf was to play a young Lee Atwater and Dano a young Karl Rove.  The filming of this new project may put that film on hold for the moment.   

I like both Hardy and LaBeouf and think this is a good choice of a film for them, especially with the success of HBO's Prohibition-themed Boardwalk Empire.  What are your thoughts of this news?
